Gestalt on Grid

Proximity - While i was making the figure for proximity i needed to think of something that would look  nice but not too complicated. Proximity states that items close together are likely to be perceived as part of the same group sharing similar functionality or traits. I came up with putting 2 straight design next to each other.

Contunity - I had to think a lot for this one. i had limited space in the grid. I didnt want to make all the gesalts look similar to i had to think of something different, i came up with sort of a x and y axis which goes on forever. In contunity we are more likely to see continuous and smooth flowing lines rather than broken or jagged ones.

Figure Ground - I had to make a figure for this one, figure round was one of the hardest one to make. I had to think alot about this but at the end i came up with something that looks like a hammer. Figure Ground is the state in which we perceive elements as either the objects of focus or the background.

Similiarty - For this i had to come up to something that was simlar, this was the easiest one. I decided to overlap 2 grids to make a bold type grid and compared that to a grid with only 1 grid. Similarity is when items share some visual characteristic, they are assumed to be related in some way

Closure - Close was fun to do because i had to make like a broken figure but the viewer should be able to tell whats broken. I made a sort of a box with some part missing and a small box inside a big box with part missing. Closure  describes our tendency to perceive segmented visual elements as complete or whole objects, even when we're missing information.

  1. The designs look decent (kinda like mine) but they look alright, could've made a shape or pattern with the negative space tho

  2. The designs are very creative especially the overlapping text one because you incorporated the gestalt principle of similarity.

  3. The presentation of these designs look great, you utilized spatial zones very well for each design. All of them are very clear in portraying their individual gestalt principle. Your reflections make your designs even more comprehensible and as to why they are designed that way.

  4. Pretty simple but sometimes art is great that way. Not everything needs to be detailed and this is proof of that. Feeling a light 7.
